Fantasy Planet Painter does not collect or share any information about you, in the application or in its add-on. This website collects no personal data: it counts its visits with Google Analytics, as described below. There are no accounts and no advertising.
The application
Fantasy Planet Painter and its World to Beyond add-on run entirely on your computer. Neither makes a network connection of its own: nothing you paint, generate, save or export is sent anywhere, and there is no telemetry, usage reporting or crash reporting. Links in the application, such as those under Help, open in your web browser only when you choose them.
Your worlds and exports are ordinary files on your computer, stored where you save them. We never see them.
The Steam edition awards Steam achievements. To tell when you have earned one, it keeps a log of what you do in the editor while Steam is running: that you painted a stroke, saved a world or chose a projection, with a few numbers about it, such as how many cells a stroke changed or how much of the world is sea. It never records a name you typed, where a file is, or the world itself. The log stays on your computer, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Fantasy Planet Painter\Logs on Windows, and files older than 14 days are deleted the next time the application starts. When you earn an achievement, the application tells the Steam client on your computer, and Steam records it on your profile as it does for any game.
Buying and installing
Fantasy Planet Painter is sold through Steam, and version 1.x through itch.io. Those stores handle your purchase, payment and download under their own privacy policies. They do not give us your name, your payment details or any other personal information about you. Steam features you use through Steam itself, such as its overlay, your playtime and any achievements you earn, are Valve's and are covered by Valve's privacy policy.
This website
This site is a set of static pages. It runs no advertising, and it loads its fonts and pictures from this site itself rather than from other services.
- Visit statistics. Every page except this policy loads Google Analytics, which tells us how many people visit, which pages they read and how they arrived. For that it sets two cookies,
_gaand_ga_T69HRMG0SR, and records the pages you open, the site that sent you, your browser and device, and your approximate location, which Google works out from your IP address without storing the address. It does not record your name, your email address or anything else that identifies you, and we do not combine it with anything that does. It is covered by Google's privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can refuse it by blocking cookies for this site or with Google's opt-out browser add-on. - Videos. Each video is shown as a picture stored on this site. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play; from then on, that video is served by YouTube (from youtube-nocookie.com) under Google's privacy policy.
- Hosting. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. As any web server does, GitHub receives your IP address to deliver the pages, and logs it for security purposes, as described in the GitHub Pages documentation and GitHub's privacy statement. We do not receive or use those logs.
- Links to other sites, such as Steam, itch.io, YouTube or the Methodox wiki, are governed by those sites' own policies once you follow them.
If you write to us

Children
We collect nothing from anyone, so we collect nothing from children.
Changes to this policy
If anything about this changes, for example if a future version gains an online feature, this page will be updated and its date revised before that change takes effect.
